History of 339 Queen Street East
About the Project
The award-winning WE Global Learning Centre development project involved the complete rehabilitation of a century-old heritage building in the iconic Corktown neighbourhood of Toronto. The history of the building can be traced back to the early 1900s, and between 1978 to 2014 it was home to eclectic furniture store Marty Millionaire, known for it’s eccentric blue exterior and neon pink signage.
For over 50 years, the second floor was also home to a bowling alley, the lanes of which remained in place long after it closed. During the restoration process, developers restored the building back to it’s original aesthetic to preserve its historical beauty.
